SupremeTracks is very excited to offer our clients a new recording instrument: Hammond electric organ with Leslie speaker.

The Hammond organ was invented in 1930’s and produced by the Hammond organ company. Initially, Hammond organ was intended for gospel music, as a cheaper replacement for costly pipe organs used in churches back in the days. Over the years, its unique sounds and expression capabilities expanded its usage spectrum to cover other genres. Starting from 1960’s, Hammond organ found its place in jazz, progressive rock and blues music.

What adds to sound range and expression capabilities of Hammong electric organ is infamous Leslie speaker.  Although Hammond has its own set of speakers, many players prefer to play it through Leslie rotating cabinet speaker because of its tonal uniqueness and expressiveness. Leslie speaker gives the organ that “woorley” sound due to high-speed rotation of the speaker rotors within the cabinet. Speed of the rotor can be adjusted. At faster speeds, it gives tremolo effects, while at the slower speeds it gives chorale effects.
